Abstract

Kopi merupakan salah satu jenis minuman paling populer serta paling digemari dan dikonsumsi oleh penduduk dunia. Berdasarkan data dari International Coffee Organization periode 2000-2010, konsumsi kopi dunia meningkat sebesar 3-4% setiap tahunnya. Indonesia juga mencatat peningkatan konsumsi kopi yang signifikan, yakni sebesar 98% dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun terakhir. Kopi sendiri mengandung lebih dari 1.000 campuran senyawa bioaktif. Senyawa aktif utamanya meliputi kafein, asam klorogenat, diterpena, kafestol, dan kahweol. Kafein merupakan kandungan dalam kopi yang paling banyak diteliti. Kafein adalah zat psikoaktif paling terkenal di dunia dan dikonsumsi oleh hampir 80% populasi. Kafein sering dianggap mampu menghilangkan rasa kantuk dan meningkatkan performa; namun, konsumsinya kerap dihindari pada malam hari untuk mencegah dampak negatif terhadap kualitas tidur malam. Penurunan kualitas tidur merupakan salah satu masalah yang paling umum ditemui. Setiap tahun, diperkirakan 25-50% orang dewasa dan kaum muda melaporkan penurunan kualitas tidur, sementara 17% mengalami gangguan tidur yang serius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi kopi terhadap kualitas tidur mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara angkatan 2020. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Dari total sampel sebanyak 141 responden, 137 responden (97,2%) mengonsumsi kopi, dengan jenis kopi yang paling banyak dikonsumsi adalah Cappuccino (67 responden atau 47,5%). Hasil penelitian menggunakan uji Fisher menunjukkan nilai P sebesar 0,001; dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kedua variabel yang diuji, yaitu pengaruh minum kopi terhadap kualitas tidur.
