Abstract

Akuisisi bahasa kedua pada anak-anak memiliki implikasi signifikan terhadap perkembangan akademik, sosial, dan jangka panjang mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penentu yang memengaruhi akuisisi bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa kedua pada anak kelas 5 SDN 1 Toya, serta menganalisis implikasinya terhadap perkembangan akademik dan sosial anak-anak. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi faktor linguistik, kognitif, afektif, serta sosial dan lingkungan yang memengaruhi akuisisi bahasa kedua. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan struktural antara bahasa ibu dan bahasa kedua, tingkat kesulitan aspek-aspek bahasa, kemampuan metalinguistik, motivasi, sikap, paparan bahasa, dan lingkungan belajar merupakan faktor-faktor penentu utama. Hasil penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa akuisisi bahasa kedua memberikan manfaat akademik, seperti peningkatan prestasi, keterampilan literasi dan komunikasi, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis. Selain itu, bahasa kedua memfasilitasi interaksi sosial, pemahaman lintas budaya, dan keterampilan adaptasi sosial. Implikasi jangka panjangnya mencakup peluang akademik dan profesional yang lebih besar, mobilitas sosial dan ekonomi, serta kontribusi terhadap masyarakat yang lebih inklusif dan beragam.
